Topics include: Day 1 – 22 May 2019 (all streams): managing staff conduct outside the school’s gates – social media use, out of school misconduct and external work; performance management best practice primer; privacy laws – examining your school’s obligations; student suspensions and exclusions/explusions; student bullying and cyber-bullying update; managing students with mental health issues – clarifying your duties, the limits of discipline and managing school refusal; student troubling sexualised behaviours and sexting; risk assessment case studies in sport events, camps and trips; managing legal exposure and compliance – permission notes, waivers, privacy, teacher qualifications, volunteers; implementing new policies and practices in school sport to meet child safe obligations and risks;

Day 2 – 23 May 2019 (non-state schools): Discrimination update: navigating enrolment and the limits of reasonable adjustments; case studies – implementing new policies and practices to meet child safe obligations; outsourcing services in schools – managing key risks and implementing effective contracts; identifying and managing conflict of interest affecting the board and school leaders; understanding and defending staff adverse action claims; privacy, confidentiality, data storage and security.
